FloofCam Help
Keep your device awake while using FloofCam
If your camera device goes to sleep, your FloofCam stream can stop. Use these steps to keep your phone, tablet, or laptop awake while monitoring your pet.
For best results, keep your monitor device plugged in while streaming.
Settings names can vary by device model and operating system version.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.
- Choose the longest available duration, or Never if your device offers it.
- Keep the device plugged in while streaming.
- Turn Low Power Mode off while monitoring.
- Low Power Mode may reduce Auto-Lock behavior and stop your stream sooner.
Android
- Open Settings and search for Screen timeout or Sleep.
- Choose the longest available screen timeout while monitoring.
- Keep the device plugged in while streaming.
- Turn Battery Saver or Power Saving Mode off while monitoring.
- Some Android devices may also pause camera or browser activity when the screen locks.
macOS
- Open Apple menu > System Settings.
- On a MacBook, go to Battery, then Options.
- Turn on “Prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off” if available.
- Increase display-off and sleep timing while monitoring.
- Keep the Mac plugged in, and leave a MacBook open unless your setup fully supports clamshell mode.
Windows
- Open Start > Settings > System > Power & battery.
- Open Screen, sleep, and hibernate timeouts, or Screen and sleep.
- Set screen timeout and sleep timeout to the longest practical values while monitoring.
- If the device has lid-close settings, make sure closing the lid does not put it to sleep.
- Turn off presence sensing features that automatically turn off the screen when you walk away.
- Keep the device plugged in while streaming.
Why streams stop when a device sleeps
FloofCam runs in the browser. If the monitor device sleeps, locks aggressively, loses network, or pauses browser or camera access, the stream can stop.
This is normal device behavior, not necessarily a FloofCam bug. If you want a broader view of how live viewing works, see FloofCam features.
Quick troubleshooting checklist
- Keep the monitor device plugged in.
- Increase Auto-Lock, screen timeout, or sleep settings.
- Turn off Low Power Mode, Battery Saver, or Power Saving Mode.
- Keep the browser tab open and visible if the device requires it.
- Check Wi-Fi stability.
- Restart the monitor session after changing power settings.
